As we move into the sixth day of IPL matches in South Africa, what started as a possible rain marred tournament is now slowly but surely catching up to all the excitement associated with the Twenty20 format of cricket. We have already witnessed some exciting matches so far, with a great crowd attendance in the grounds of South Africa. In India, there is amazing buzz all across and people are glued to their television sets to catch up with the latest on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2009.
We caught up with an exciting television byte during the live telecast of the IPL match yesterday. The local kids at the venue were picking their favorite teams out of the 8 teams participating in this years tournament. It was sheer joy to witness the excitement of the local crowd as they struggled taking the names of their favorite IPL teams.
The 'God of Cricket', Sachin Tendulkar has added another feather to his cap by finding a place at the famous Madam Tussauds Wax Museum in London. The museum houses wax replicas of famous personalities from all over the world and is a popular hot spot in London.
How could have Sachin not found a place in the famous wax museum after what he has achieved in his remarkable cricketing career playing for India? With a debut in 1989, this iconic superstar of the present generation is still going great guns after a long career spanning 20 years. He is still the hope of a billion people whenever he dons the India colors and steps in to a cricketing field. Tendulkar became the first Indian sports star to have been replicated in wax at the famous London wax museum.
Considering his busy cricketing schedule and commitments for the IPL in South Africa, representatives from Tussauds flew in to Mumbai to let Sachin Tendulkar unveil his wax statute.
Admiring the beautiful work done by the sculptors at Madam Tussauds, when Sachin met 'Sachin' he was in awe of the end-result and made a light remark looking at his wax statute, “I am glad he does not breathe.”
We all wish more success and glory for this iconic superstar who is the perfect role model to emulate.

Deccan Chargers ~ DLF IPL 2009 CHAMPIONS
After over a month of exciting Twenty20 Cricket in South Africa and in an amazing turnaround, last year's bottom-most ranked team Deccan Chargers won the DLF IPL 2009 Championship. IPL kickstarted on 18th April and culminated with the Final on 24th May. The Final match was played between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Johannesburg and was a nail biting thriller of a match.
There was a big question mark over the start of the IPL Season 2 when the Indian government couldn't provide the adequate security for IPL in the wake of the General Elections. The venue was shifted to South Africa. What followed was sheer MAGIC.
The beautiful South Africa proved to be the perfect hosts to the IPL as the tournament created lot of excitement within and outside the country. We are sure that the IPL Season 3 next year would bring in more excitement and turn out to be bigger 'n' better than the current season which just ended. After the two defeats at the hands of New Zealand in the Twenty20 series, India has bounced back with a spectacular show in the ODI-Series, wrapping it up 3-0 with one more match to go on Saturday.
India won the 4th One Day International at Hamilton on Wednesday. The kiwis managed to put up a good score after winning the toss and electing to bat. They piled up 270 runs in 47 overs and wouldn't have thought of India's walk in the park victory. Sachin's absence in the match would have surely comforted the kiwis before the start of the match and a total of 270 runs on the board was indeed a good follow-up score considering that India were minus the services of the little master. But never would they have imagined a sound thumping like the one they got at the hands of Sehwag and Gambhir.
Sehwag and Gambhir were unbeaten at 125 and 63 before the rain intervened and cut short the match. Duckworth Lewis system was put to use to give India its victory as they were 84 runs ahead of the at par score at the time the match was stopped because of rain.
Virender Sehwag's dazzling batting was a treat for all the cricket fans and most definitely the highlight of the match. He blasted off to his century in just 60 balls and thereby becoming the fastest Indian century maker in the process beating Azharuddin's record of 62 ball century. Sehwag remained unbeaten at 125 off just 74 balls, hitting 14 boundaries and 6 sixes to achieve this score.
This win gave India a resounding 3-0 lead in the 5 match ODI series. With the final match still to go at Auckland on Saturday, this series win in New Zealand after 33 years will surely lift up India's morale ahead of the Test match series.
